The Sy Landy Memorial Fund
Sy Landy, National Secretary of the League for the Revolutionary Party (LRP) since its founding in 1976 until his death in 2007, left behind a significant body of work, some of which was “officially” published in his own name and plenty which ran without attribution in leaflets, newspapers, magazines and booklets. He left other articles and essays in a draft stage. In all, Sy’s political writings greatly exceed what is currently available in printed form.
Sy became particularly known for his analysis of the Black liberation struggle in the U.S. He also wrote penetrating articles re-examining central tenets of revolutionary Marxist theory and their application which are of tremendous value today. His articles on current events over the years addressed topics from American foreign policy to the anti-war movement.
The League for the Revolutionary Party wants to publish a new selection of Sy’s writings. We will also be translating more of his writings into Spanish and other languages.
Proletarian Revolution magazine and other LRP publications could not be published without generous financial contributions from our supporters and friends. As a small working-class organization, each new publication challenges our modest resources. That is why we are appealing for contributions to the Sy Landy Memorial Fund to help us realize our plans to publish more of Sy’s writings. We cannot thank enough those comrades and friends who have already generously contributed to the Sy Landy Memorial Fund. And we thank in advance those who will contribute in the future.
Donations to the fund should be written to “S.V. Publishing,” earmarked for the “Sy Landy Memorial Fund” and sent to:
