Proletarian Revolution No. 81, Spring 2008

Including Summer 2008 Supplement

PR 81 features two major articles:

The Fight for the Revolutionary Party: Sy Landy, 1931-2007 commemorates the life of the LRP’s National Secretary. This article focuses on the early 50’s through the mid 70’s. It takes up key disputes as they arose within the Trotskyist movement -- over how to relate to the U.S. - U.S.S.R. conflicts, the rise of militancy in the U.S. labor movement and the Black liberation struggle.

Election ’08 Won’t Win Real Change provides a revolutionary Marxist analysis of the current U.S. presidential campaign, in the light of the imperialist war against Iraq, as well as the racist, anti-immigrant and anti-worker attacks here at home.

PR No. 81 also includes the following articles:

The Summer 2008 Supplement to Proletarian Revolution No. 81 includes the following:

No support to Capitalist Parties! continues our Marxist analysis of the U.S. political parties at this time, with special attention paid to Barack Obama, who is fitting himself to help the U.S. ruling class reform its image. We also take a look at “third-party” pro-capitalist candidates such as Ralph Nader and Cynthia McKinney, as well as left groups, including the ISO, WWP, and PSL, who support them.

Anti-War Conference Clashes Over Afghanistan, Democrats details the work of LRP comrades at the Cleveland national anti-war conference to attempt to break the stranglehold the Democratic Party has on the anti-war movement. LRP supporters fought against the nominally “Socialist” leaders of the conference to oppose the U.S. war on Afghanistan, and for a stronger position in support of the struggle of the Palestinian people.
